As I ventured into Europos Parkas,I found myself immersed in a breathtaking fusion of art and nature. The vast 55-hectare exhibition showcased over 100 captivating artworks by talented artists from 34 countries, including grand-scale masterpieces by renowned contemporary artists.

I was particularly awestruck by Karosas' groundbreaking achievement—a Guinness World Record-holding artwork featuring the largest collection of TV sets. The park's serene atmosphere and convenient location, just a short drive from Vilnius city center, made it a perfect oasis to celebrate the harmonious blend of art, nature, and Lithuania's rich cultural heritage.

It was an unforgettable experience that left me inspired and deeply connected to the beauty and creativity that abound in Europos Parkas.

Our next step will be the Geographical Center of Europe

On May 24, 1997, a significant event took place - the discovery of a stone marking the geographical center of Europe. This symbolic monument, created by sculptor Gediminas Jokubonis in 2004, rises above a white granite column adorned with a crown-shaped star. In 1992, a special reserve was established around the geographical center, encompassing various natural elements such as Lake Giria, the Bernotai barrow, a picturesque hillside, and the adjacent forest. This stop won't take long, but the mere fact of being at the center of Europe is quite appealing.

I was filled with anticipation. Upon reaching the symbolic monument, a stone marking this significant location, I was struck by its simplicity and the crown-shaped star adorning the white granite column. The surrounding special reserve showcased the beauty of nature, with Lake Giria, the Bernotai barrow, a picturesque hillside, and the adjacent forest creating a serene backdrop. While the visit was brief, the sheer realization of standing at the center of Europe was undeniably captivating, leaving an impression that resonated long after I left.

Next, we will head to Kernave, which is approximately a 40-minute car ride away.

About the Place: The Kernave Archaeological Site holds a captivating tale, housing the remnants of the medieval town of Kernave in eastern Lithuania, as well as traces of habitation dating back approximately 10 millennia. Widely regarded as the birthplace of Lithuania, Kernave is steeped in legend and historical significance.

Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2004, the Kernave Archaeological Site has become a popular destination for tourists seeking to delve into its rich history.

Unveiling the history of kernave archaeological site

Inhabited from the 9th to 8th millennia BC, Kernave evolved into a pre-Christian town by the 12th and 13th centuries AD. Strengthened by five imposing hill-forts, which still stand today alongside numerous other monuments and ruins, the town became a stronghold of Christian feudalism. Witness the burial sites and explore the remains of the 13th-century town itself.

The first recorded mention of Kernave dates back to 1279, and it is widely believed to have been the capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania under the leadership of Grand Duke Mindaugas. During this period, Kernave thrived as a significant economic and political center, shaping the course of Lithuanian history.

In medieval times, Kernave faced numerous attacks, including assaults by the Teutonic Order in 1365 and another destructive event in 1390 that left the town in ruins, never to be rebuilt.
